Recognising and Overcoming Weight Loss Obstacles

It's frustrating to work hard without seeing results, especially in weight loss. To make sure your efforts pay off, pay attention to some hidden factors.

1. You're Not in a Calorie Deficit

This is the most common reason why people don't lose weight. To lose weight, you need to be in a calorie deficit, meaning you burn more calories than you consume.

There are two ways to create a calorie deficit: eat less and/or move more. Most people need to do both.

To eat less, it's important to be mindful of your portion sizes and the types of foods you're eating. Processed foods, sugary drinks, and unhealthy fats are high in calories and low in nutrients. Instead, focus on eating whole, unprocessed foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and lean protein.

To move more, aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise most days of the week. You can break this up into shorter sessions throughout the day, if that works better for you.

2. You're Not Eating Enough Protein

Protein is essential for weight loss. It helps you feel full and satisfied after meals, which can help you eat less overall. Protein also helps to build and maintain muscle mass, which is important for burning calories.

Aim to eat 20-30 grams of protein at each meal. Good sources of protein include lean meat, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy products, and legumes.

3. You're Tracking the Wrong Measures of Progress

If you're only tracking your weight on the scale, you could be missing the big picture. Weight loss isn't always linear, and there are other factors that can affect your progress, such as water weight and muscle gain. You may even need to improvise on your gym workout plan or nutrition plan.

To get a more accurate picture of your progress, track other measures, such as body composition, clothing size, and strength gains. You can also take progress photos to see how your body is changing over time.

4. You Need More Accountability
